What a well written and well researched article of how the Voting Rights Act has been decimated and the right has moved to disenfranchise the Black vote. We must win in November, enlarge the Supreme Court and codify a new Voting Rights Act.
Thanks for this personal essay on the sad state of voting rights under the GOP. In this well-written article in Truthify, award-winning author Janice Airhart describes her recent family travel across the Confederacy. Janice managed to land in Montgomery, AL, just before the “All Roads Lead to the South” reenactment of the 1965 Selma to Montgomery March for voting rights.
SCOTUS’s recent Callais opened the door to sweeping reactionary redistricting to dilute the power of minority votes. As Airhart writes, “Former Confederate states, for the most part, are embracing it. And it’s disingenuous to pretend the goal is simply partisan gain."
This is such a well written article which boldly describes the sad truth of racism, at every turn, in the US. Thanks so much for your contributions, Janice.
Yes, racism is a sad truth. It's been baked into our American system of government for 250 years. MLK once said "the arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice." I'm beginning to despair of that kind of hope. It appears to be retreating at the moment. Thanks.

I agree on all counts. Thanks for your comment.

The situation is indeed disturbing. Thanks for your comment.
